Beauty Tip - Clear Skin
As hair and makeup professionals, people are always asking us how to take care of their skin. It is very important to take care of your skin not only for your big day but also in day to day life! The skin on your face is the un-painted canvas we start with for your makeup, so it is very important to take good care of it! If you do not know what to do, don’t worry babe, we got you! No matter what kind of skin you have here is how to get your skin looking the best for your wedding day and forever!
For dry to normal skin: hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate! Use products that have tons of hydration and water every morning and evening. You want to avoid dryness in your face. Dry skin leads to peeling skin and no one wants that, especially on their wedding day. You want your makeup to look and feel flawless and smooth. You need plump hydrated skin to do that! We also recommend deeply exfoliating the skin at least twice a week. This will help keep that natural glow as well as get rid of persistent blackheads. Facials every couple of months help to relieve stress and really rest your skin.
Pro tip: if you are getting a facial before your wedding, try it our 6 months before to make sure you do not have any negative reactions from the facial. We recommend getting a facial about 3-4 weeks before your big day! Take a little time to your self!
For oily skin: You still need to moisturize (a non-oil based moisturizer is best), but the key is to close your pores! To do so, make sure to incorporate a cleanser and a toner in your daily skin routine. After washing your face use a toner to help close your pores and tone your skin. A great all-natural toner is witch-hazel. All you need to do is apply a little on a cotton ball and dap it all over your face in the morning and evening. After you can proceed with your normal skincare routine and moisturize.
How to avoid breakouts: The biggest thing I recommend is changing out your pillowcase every night. It might sound funny, but your sweat, excess oil, dirt, grime, and other things get transferred from the air and from our faces onto our pillows every night. By sleeping on the same pillowcase, all that nastiness goes right back into our pores while sleeping the next night. I promise you will see a huge change in your face in less than a week!
Your wedding day prep should begin months in advance for your skin. The better your skin looks, the better your make up will come out as well! If you have any questions, or need any recommendations, feel free to email, call, text, or DM us!
Until next time: XOXO
